Part-Time / Variable Hours • Year-Round • Weatherford, Texas

Weatherford Equine Medical Center is looking for a dependable, capable individual to assist with the maintenance, grounds, errands, and general operational needs of our facilities.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys variety, can work independently, and is comfortable figuring out how to get things done. Hours will vary depending on the needs of the practice, current projects, and the skills of the individual.

About the Position

The Facilities & Operations Assistant helps keep Weatherford Equine’s facilities, grounds, and day-to-day operations running smoothly.

Some days may involve mowing, repairing a fence, or handling general maintenance around the property. Other days may require trips into town for feed, supplies, tools, parts, or other items needed by the practice.

When a project requires specialized work beyond the employee’s abilities, this position may also help coordinate outside contractors and make sure the necessary work gets completed.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, resourceful, and willing to take ownership of the many small jobs that keep a busy equine practice functioning.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

  • General facility maintenance and minor repairs
  • Mowing, landscaping, and grounds maintenance
  • Fence and gate repair
  • Picking up feed, supplies, tools, parts, and other items needed by the practice
  • Making routine trips to local feed stores, hardware stores, office-supply stores, and other vendors
  • Troubleshooting basic facility and equipment problems
  • Performing minor carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, or other repair work within the individual’s abilities
  • Coordinating with outside contractors when specialized work is required
  • Obtaining parts, materials, and supplies for maintenance projects
  • Keeping tools, maintenance areas, and supplies organized
  • Assisting with projects around both the Medical Center and Breeding Center
  • Helping wherever needed to keep the facilities safe, clean, and functional

Schedule & Hours

This position offers a flexible and variable schedule rather than a guaranteed 40-hour workweek.

Some weeks may require approximately 10–20 hours, while busier periods or larger projects may provide closer to a full workweek. Hours will vary with seasonal needs, maintenance projects, and the individual’s abilities.

Someone with a broader range of maintenance, mechanical, construction, or repair skills may have opportunities to take on more projects and additional hours.

We are looking for someone comfortable with that flexibility and interested in a position where the workload may change considerably from week to week.

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • Dependable and able to work independently
  • Able to recognize problems and take initiative to address them
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable using common hand and power tools
  • Comfortable performing physical work and working outdoors
  • Organized enough to keep track of errands, projects, parts, and supplies
  • Able to communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and contractors
  • Willing to perform a wide variety of tasks
  • Able to determine when a problem can be handled independently and when outside help is needed
  • In possession of a valid driver’s license and comfortable making frequent local errands

General maintenance, construction, ranch, farm, landscaping, or similar hands-on experience is preferred.

Welding ability, equipment experience, mechanical skills, and experience with general construction or repair work are significant pluses.

A Job for Someone Who Likes Variety

This position can be a particularly good fit for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, and having something different to do from one day to the next.

Weatherford Equine is a large, active equine practice, and there is almost always something that needs to be picked up, repaired, maintained, organized, or improved. A capable and dependable person in this role becomes an important resource for the entire practice.
